First Hitachi EX2000

Jun 29, 2023

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCMA) says the first EX2000-7BH hydraulic excavator in Australia was commissioned in Western Australia in May 2023 with mining contractor and equipment rental company SMS Mining Services.

HCMA stated: “The EX2000-7BH, embodying the fresh features of our -7 range, elevates the standards of safety, sustainability, productivity, and comfort. But it’s not just about these; this machine is also a symbol of durability and reliability.”

First launched in late 2021, the EX2000-7 built on the proven productivity of the EX1900-6, consuming up to 19% less fuel while maintaining the same levels of productivity. Hitachi says owners benefit from exceptional fuel efficiency, thanks to energy-efficient features including a new hydraulic circuit and work mode selection function.

In more detail, each individually controlled hydraulic pump has its own electric regulator, enhancing engine power, lowering fuel consumption, and increasing productivity to lower the total cost of operation. The excavator has a Cummins QST30-C Tier 4 Final engine.

The flow regeneration valve fitted to the hydraulic system reduces pump demand, ultimately reducing power requirements from the hydraulic system and engine. The result is lower fuel consumption and improved pump life. A larger hydraulic oil cooler with variable speed fan reduces energy demand and creates a more reliable hydraulic system. The oil cooler is kept separate from the radiator to effectively reduce hydraulic oil temperatures, increase hydraulic service life, and improve maintainability.

Hitachi’s computer-aided Engine-Pump (E-P) Control achieves optimum productivity from the engine and hydraulic pumps. The innovative system senses load demand and controls engine and pump output to match the work being performed, maximising operating efficiency and lowering fuel costs for large workloads.
